Providing design verification and optimisation to Lüleburgaz wastewater treatment plant

The Municipality of Lüleburgaz and MASS Construction Company, through a collaborated project initiated by the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation and the European Union, have engaged DHI for our services and expertise in wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) and their management. Using our MIKE Powered by DHI WEST for OPTIMISATION software, we were able to employ an efficient and reliable method to simulate the plant’s processes.

With our software, DHI had remodeled the design provided by MASS Construction Company which was based on estimations that were not verified. With real data obtained by Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), we were able to set up a dynamic model that would produce a more reliable simulation.

In conducting a model-based verification of the WWTP design, the team at DHI employed two means of simulation; the steady-state simulation, and the dynamic simulation. The WEST for OPTIMISATION software has helped to verify the process calculations that resulted in an easier evaluation of the plant’s processes.

To know more about the processes and how our software has helped optimise the processes of the Lülerburgaz WWTP, read our case story here.
